Founding editor,

Notes from the Search Bar

I spent years looking for a publication that communicated digital humanities research simply and clearly to public audiences. But there wasn’t one, so in Fall 2020, I started it. Notes is an interdisciplinary, multi-university student-written publication that summarizes recent research, projects, and tools in the digital humanities.

Inventio section editor, Kairos

Kairos is a peer-reviewed journal in rhetoric and composition that has been published continuously since 1996, open-access since before open-access was a thing. It publishes “webtexts,” which are essentially academic articles in the form of small sui generis websites. I began with the journal as an assistant editor in 2014 and was promoted to associate editor in 2017; in those roles, I worked in copyediting, fixing broken JavaScript and HTML/CSS, and bringing texts in line with accessibility requirements. In 2021, I was promoted again to section co-editor of Inventio, a section in which authors reflexively explore the process of creating digital academic work.

Editor, Pack Prints

I’ve worked as an editor for three editions of Pack Prints, our two-volume semiannual collection of student writing for the A-State Campus Writing Program. The process has involved writing content, soliciting and selecting submissions, working with authors to edit, and revising the content according to the publisher’s specifications. The fourth edition will include, for the first time, an e-textbook version of the content, featuring student-created videos and infographics in addition to text.
